GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids is welcoming a new business that promises low impact, high intensity workouts. Cyclebar is celebrating its grand opening this weekend. Owner Shanna Williams said the indoor cycling studio is designed for all fitness levels.
“It's such an inclusive engaging community,” she said. “I've always felt so welcome here, and it really is a place where you just come for yourself, build your own ride, and do your own thing, but you’re supported by everyone around you, and it feels so great to bring it to Grand Rapids.”
Williams said she’s thrilled to finally be opening, after experiencing a multitude of setbacks in recent years.
“My husband and I moved here January of 2020, expecting to open the studio in September of 2020,” she said. “It quickly became clear that that was not going to happen. So we were kind of in a holding pattern for about a year. We signed the lease on this space in March of 2021. Then, with lots of hiccups and product shortages and things across the country, it's taken us a little while to get here.”
A soft opening was held in early February, but the grand opening is happening this weekend. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday, a brunch celebration at noon on Saturday and a weekend full of giveaways, including unlimited free rides to anyone interested.
“We welcome all riders of all levels,” Williams said. “The thing that's really great about Cyclebar is from the moment you walk in the door, you are going to be led through the entire process, especially if it's your first time. We're going to help you check in and get you your shoes. We're going to get you set up on a bike and show you how to do it.”
There are a few Cyclebar locations on the east side of the state, but this is the first one in West Michigan. It's located at 6080 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids. Morning classes are offered seven days a week, and evening classes are offered on weekdays. To learn more, click here.
