GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Inside their hanger at Skydive Grand Haven, owners Tony and Haley Gwinn have a poster made with photos of their adventures with their dog, Fuzz.
The poster has the words "Where's Fuzz?" on it, referring to his high energy and love for running to meet new people.
Now, unfortunately, these words have taken on a new meaning.
The family has been actively searching for Fuzz since he went missing on Monday and are seeking the community's help.
Tony and Haley said Fuzz was last seen when their family and friends were out boating on Monday at the North Muskegon Waterfront Sports Park.
When the boat ran ashore, they said Fuzz was inside the boat. However, once they had gotten the boat back into the water, Fuzz was no longer there.
Tony said the family dove into the water near the last spot where they were able to track Fuzz with the GPS on his collar, but found nothing.
"He's nowhere to be seen," said Tony. "It was good visibility down there, no rocks, it's all sand you know, if he was in the water I'm sure he got out."
They believe his GPS stopped working after being in the water.
Fuzz is known by many of their clients, as he would function as a support animal for people making jumps.
"We always call him the boss," said Haley. "He was an emotional support animal for people making their first skydives. That's always pleasant for them to have a little fuzzy teddy bear running around, so he helped a lot of people around here."
Tony and Haley said Fuzz loves people and has been with the family since he was a baby.
"He's been flying with me, motorcycles, jet skis, sailboats, everything I do, he does," said Tony.
The family said they've been out searching daily since Monday, and have used thermal imaging from a local drone pilot, but have yet to find Fuzz.
"At this point, we're kind of relying on the community to keep an eye out for him because we're fairly certain he is on land," said Haley. "We've used our social media platform from business and thankfully people have been super supportive and helpful."
The family said Fuzz is a Shih Tzu and Yorkie mix, weighing around 10 lbs. They asked for anyone who spots him or finds him to contact them, with a reward involving some free skydives.
