GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Swimming is the first leg of a triathlon and can seem the most daunting to a beginner triathlon competitor.
Shanna Grove and Laura Hartman haven't swam in years, so they grabbed help from Erin Kring, a swim coach at the Mary Free Bed YMCA.

Erin's lesson includes technique tips, like stroke efficiency and breathing rhythms. She also shares a couple drills in the pool using kickboards and pull buoys.
