SANDUSKY, Ohio — Cedar Point is saying goodbye to an iconic ride this Labor Day.

Snake River Falls boat ride will permanently close on Sept. 2 after 31 years of drenching riders.

When the ride opened in 1993, Cedar Point said it was the tallest, steepest and fastest water flume ride in the world.

Tony Clark, Cedar Point's director of communications, said in an article that they're closing the ride to make way for future expansion.

"As with previous attractions that have reached the end of their serviceable life, we honor & respect the past but look forward to future FUN for generations to come," Clark said in the article.

More details on a special "last splash" will be released in the coming weeks.
