HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- Some Hope college students hit the dance floor Friday evening and will stay there until 5:00pm Saturday night.
They're holding a 24-hour Dance Marathon to raise money for Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. Students have been fundraising and preparing for the event since the fall semester.
For Kierstynn Foster, a student at Hope who was treated at the hospital for a type of leukemia, the marathon has special meaning. "You don't really think anything like that will really happen," she says, "but the staff at Helen DeVos just really rallied around me, they were so encouraging. The relationships it sparks extends outside the walls of the hospital. It's so rewarding to be able to give back to an instituion that literly gave me my life.
This is the 16th year for the marathon. Since it began it's raised more than $1.3 million.
