BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Michigan will once again have Jack in the Box fast-food chains, the brand announced this week.
The chain is one of the nation's largest hamburger chains, operating more than 2,180 restaurants across 22 states.
Decades ago, the chain had stores in the Detroit area.
In a new restaurant commitment agreement, Michigan will once again have the fast-food giant.
This agreement will see restaurants pop up in the southwest and southcentral sections of Michigan, including Kalamazoo, Calhoun and Kent Counties.
The first location is set to open in Battle Creek.
“We are excited to announce five Jack in the Box locations in our West Michigan area over the span of five years,” Niraj Patel, a new Jack in the Box franchisee said. “We will open the first Jack in the Box location in Battle Creek, Michigan. This is very exciting because we can give our community more food options and help provide 40 to 50 new jobs per location. We have been in our West Michigan community for decades, and we love to see the growth in our community. We own and operate a dozen hotels in the West Michigan area and want to expand our hospitality portfolio with the addition of a QSR concept.”
A more detailed timeline of when the Battle Creek store would open was not immediately available.
This announcement in Michigan is part of a wider development agreement to build stores in Florida.
“The continued expansion into Florida and Michigan matches up with our strategic growth plan for new markets,” said Tim Linderman, chief development officer. “With the recent success from our new market openings in Salt Lake City and Louisville, we’ve recognized how much pent-up demand Jack in the Box has across the country. We’re thrilled to partner with restaurant operators like Ed and Niraj to bring our challenger brand to communities throughout the USA.”
Jack in the Box features menu items like burgers, tacos, chicken sandwiches, and milkshakes and also offers breakfast and late-night snacks.
