GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Who in West Michigan can put away hot dogs like no one's business? Do they have what it takes to go up against the best competitive eaters?
West Michigan will soon find out who will earn a spot on the international stage in what is considered to be one of the biggest events in competitive eating!
Nathan's Famous is hosting a qualifying event for its annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Comstock Park this weekend. Registration for the event is already closed due to capacity.
On Saturday, May 11, competitors will put their stomachs to the test after the Whitecaps game at LMCU Ballpark. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. and the qualifying event will take place immediately afterward.
The top male and female finishers will qualify for the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, Brooklyn, on July 4.
The Whitecaps game on Saturday is also their military appreciation game.
“Each May and June the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Circuit travels the nation signaling that the most highly anticipated day of the year is approaching, and that day is July Fourth,” said Phil McCann, Vice President of Marketing at Nathan’s Famous. “We are excited to visit Grand Rapids to host an official qualifying event and to find champions to represent our nation alongside the world's most accomplished eaters at the 2024 Nathan’s Famous International July Fourth Hot Dog Eating Contest.”
