Kent County (WZZM) -- More than 100 cats and dogs have new homes after a free pet adoption day on Saturday. 100% of the pet adoption fees at the Kent County Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of West Michigan were free! New pet owners only had to pay a $12 license fee.
The event is sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation. Every new family received a free cleaning product.
The Kent County Animal Shelter set a new record for adoptions in one day with 43. The West Michigan Humane Society had 66 adoptions, both shelters say their facilities are nearly empty.
