Grand Rapids shelter offers free Christmas meal Wednesday

This annual free Christmas luncheon is available for individuals and families who may be experiencing hunger and homelessness.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The largest provider of services to people experiencing homelessness in West Michigan is gearing up to serve the community a free holiday meal on Wednesday. 

Mel Trotter Ministries is offering its annual Christmas meal for free. 

Guests will have a spread of salad, dinner rolls, carrots, corn, mashed potatoes, chicken, beef and dessert. 

You don't have to register to take part. 

The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 1:30 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., lunch will be served to Mel Trotter Ministries guests and Heartside community members. 

Then from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., lunch will be served to families staying at Mel Trotter Ministries and from the Heartside community. 

Mel Trotter is located at 225 Commerce Ave. SW in Grand Rapids.
