Walker ringing in the holiday season with Winterfest Thursday night

The event will take place both inside and outside of the Walker Ice and Fitness Center at 4151 Remembrance Rd. NW.

WALKER, Mich. — Thursday night the City of Walker is hosting their annual Walker Winterfest from 5:30 until 7 p.m.

The event will take place both inside and outside of the Walker Ice and Fitness Center at 4151 Remembrance Rd. NW.

Attendees can enjoy treats including hot cocoa and cookies, pictures with Santa, live reindeer, crafts and free ice skating. They can also enjoy festive music performed by the Kenowa Hills High School Marching Band, Orchestra and Choir.

At the end of the evening there will be a tree lighting ceremony with Mayor Gary Carey Jr. and City Commissioners.

This year the Walker Ice and Fitness Center will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

At the event, you can also find a Toys for Tots collection box along with a free food pantry for non-expired, non-perishable food donations.

The event is free for anyone who would like to attend.
