Police provide update on missing teen Penelope 'Penny' Wise, parents speak

The Kent County Sheriff shared an update on Penelope Wise who's been missing since the end of May. Authorities said they have no leads as to where she may be.

CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich — Police provided an update Wednesday on Kent County teenager Penelope Wise. The 17-year-old has been missing since May 31. After five weeks there are still no leads of where she may be. Now more than ever, her parents are asking for the community’s help to find her

"If people want to keep an eye on their, on their cameras and restaurants, you know, businesses want to keep their eye on their cameras, that would be excellent," said Mishael Wise, Penelope's mother.

David and Mishael Wise said their daughter Penelope Wise, also known as "Penny" could often be found playing with her siblings.

"She's very energetic. She's, she's bubbly, she's very friendly," said Mishael Wise.

The Kent County Sherrif's Office shared on Wednesday that Penelope was last seen on an infrared camera walking by herself near the Corner Bar in Rockford. The Under Sheriff with Kent County said the footage was taken around midnight on June 1.

"That's the last video that we know of that exists right now, and that's why we're really hoping, again, like we asked her earlier, that maybe the community can look at the ring cameras, the surveillance cameras they have anything on their property in that time frame that she's been missing, and report that information back to us," said Bryan Muir, Kent County Under Sheriff.

The Sheriff's Office will not release the footage, as they said it might confuse viewers as to what color Penelope's clothes were. They emphasize she was last seen wearing a pink tank top and blue jeans.

"We're focusing on the Rockford area, because that's the last known place that we had, and that's the most obvious place we're going to start looking, but we know she had the propensity to talk to strangers. There's maybe a chance that she got a ride out of the immediate area, and we're just not searching in the right spot right now," said Under Sheriff Muir.

David and Mishael said with every day that does by, their concern grows for their daughters well being.

"We don't know where she's at. She hasn't had her meds in well over a month now. So, you know, her mental state, we don't know what it's like. We miss her, her family misses her. Her friends miss her. It's more than just us that greatly miss her and want her back," said Mishael Wise.
