West Michigan apple orchard searching for owner of missing engagement ring found in corn pit

Gull Meadow Farms is searching for the owner of a missing engagement ring that was found in their 1,500-square-foot "corn crib."

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — One can say that buried treasure was found in the "Corn Crib" at Gull Meadow Farms in Kalamazoo County, but now the owners are trying to make sure what was found gets back into the right hands.

A silver engagement ring was found a foot deep in 1,500 sq. ft. of corn. It's an area of the farm called the "Corn Crib," meant for children and families to dig and play in the corn.

"Last weekend, when one of our guests was in here digging around, they saw the ring," said manager Justin Wendzel, who is thankful to the family who turned in the ring rather than keeping it for themselves.

"I'm guessing what happened was that they never even knew that they lost it out here, then a day or two later, maybe later on that afternoon, they noticed that they didn't have it, but didn't really think to kind of reach out to us on it, and so we're trying to reach out to them, which is a lot more difficult then if they had remembered that they lost it here," said Wendzel, who says he empathizes with whoever lost the ring.

"If my wife lost her engagement ring, obviously, she she would not sleep for weeks, probably stressed out about it," Wendzel added.

Now, Gull Meadow Farms has started the daunting task of making sure the ring gets back to the right owner, but they are not making pictures of it public to avoid the ring getting put into the wrong hands.

"It's a unique ring, and so we just want to make sure that someone has to describe it or show pictures of it, and so I don't want to show it to everybody, because then everybody would say yes, that's mine," said Wendzel.

Gull Meadow Farms posted on Facebook asking for the community's help. It's been shared more than 2,000 times.

"They desire to find the owner as much as I desire to find the owner. So, it was fun kind of seeing the groups that it was being shared to locally and how many it got shared on it," he said.

Wendzel asks that whoever believes the ring is theirs to give them a call, and have photos to prove that it is theirs.

"If you lost the ring out here at Gull Meadow Farms, please reach out to us, because we want to get it back to you."
