Overnight crews from Michigan and four other states have restored power to more than 75 percent of the those affected by the severe storms early Friday.
According to Consumers Energy, about 27,000 people remain without power as of 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
“The remaining customers are in our hardest-hit areas with significant tree damage affecting our electric distribution system,” said Guy Packard, Consumers Energy’s vice president of electric operations. “Our work is not complete until every customer is restored. We continue working around the clock to get that done as soon and safely as possible.”

The majority of customers still without power should have power restored by 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a news release from the power company. In some of the hardest hit communities, including Grand Rapids and portions of Kent and Ottawa counties, Consumers says restoration work may have to extend into Monday.
