SAUGATUCK, Mich. — A new brewery opened up in Saugatuck on Friday in the historic Red Barn building.
Guardian Brewing Company was founded by Kim Collins and Kate Bishop. They bought the Red Barn Theater in 2016 and started transforming it into the brewery.
The Red Barn has been a part of the architectural landscape in Saugatuck since 1912 when it was built for use as a horse barn. By 1948, the barn was converted into a community theater and it was painted its signature red.
Over the decades the barn was developed and changed ownership.
The barn now has been turned into the Guardian Brewing Company, which has a restaurant, brewery, classroom, and event center. Plus yurts will be available to rent overnight in the spring.
Guardian Brewing Company added on 8,000 square feet of development to the barn. In the future, they plan to expand further and build out the event space.
The new brewery will be open year round in Saugatuck. More information can be found here.
