New flower, wine shop opens in Creston neighborhood

The shop boasts a wall of both local and global wines, along with a cooler full of flowers.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A new business in Grand Rapids' Creston neighborhood has seen a major transformation over the past two years thanks to extensive building renovations.

Good, Good, Good Wine and Flowers is in a historic building on Plainfield Avenue. The owners purchased it two years ago and have been working on renovations ever since. The 100-year-old building was abandoned in 2000.

Now, it's coming to life—literally.

Good, Good, Good Wine and Flowers boasts a wide selection of flowers along with "living" wines, which are made naturally and free of additives or other chemicals.

The shop serves as a flower shop, wine bar and event space all in one. When you first walk in, you're greeted by a wall of wines from around the globe and an intimate bar space. You'll notice wines from Michigan, Italy, France, Spain, Japan and more.

The shop also boasts a large cooler of flowers. Co-owner and wine director Kyle Warren said the shop will offer different cheese and wine pairings while guests make their own flower arrangements.

Warren said the building needed "renovation on renovation," and that transforming the space over the last two years took a lot of work.

"It was such a project. But my wife and I, we live in this neighborhood. We love it here, and we just saw, like, the bones of the structure, and we're like, that would be the spot to do this," he said.

Warren said the idea for Good, Good, Good Wine and Flowers is a fusion of his and his wife's passions. He is a sommelier, and she is a florist.

"We're just excited to be here in Creston, excited to be doing this, excited to share this with people," he said. "So come on in. Ask questions, talk to us, try something new, and just yeah, come hang out."

The shop opened Tuesday as part of its soft opening. There will be an official grand opening on Saturday.

The store is open Tuesday through Saturday. You can learn more here.
