MUSKEGON, Mich. — Summertime is meant for grilling.
Any grill master knows you need the right accessories to make the perfect steak, juicy cheeseburgers, or tender vegetables.
Now, thanks to a North Muskegon mother-daughter duo, girls can fire up those grills in style.
11-year-old Frannie Williamson is the inspiration behind the new small business.
“I love baking, so cooking and trying new foods and eating foods is really just fun to do. So, I just started bringing it to the grill," Frannie said.
Frannie’s mother Katie Williamson saw how much she loved using the grill and hoped to encourage her to keep going.
“I jumped on Amazon trying to find her some grill tools and accessories that would inspire her," Katie said.
They couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for, and so the idea for "You Grill Girl" was born.
”You Grill Girl is a company that encourages girls to try something new, mostly grilling. So, we're putting out products to encourage that," Katie said.
Katie and Frannie helped to design the logo which was then sent to a supplier that would make the hot pink accessories.
“We got on social media and there are so many girls grilling and it's really fun to see it take off," Katie said.
So far there are grilling gloves, a grill tool accessory kit and a griddle cover.
"I love using the tools. I think it's really fun to mess around with flipping the food and stuff. I like being outdoors. I like taking it outside," Frannie said.
From sizzling sausage to perfectly cooked scrambled eggs and fluffy pancakes, Frannie's massive breakfast sandwich is a delicious delight.
“It's steak for dinner but for breakfast, I like, love cooking pancakes on the grill," Frannie said.
The possibilities are endless with these grilling tools.
The small business owners are already hard at work coming up with more tools to add to the collection.
They hope to expand to local retailers very soon.
