Garage sales, second hand stores and Craigslist aren't the only places you can look when you are hoping to find something for a bit cheaper than retail prices.
You can also go to social media sites like Facebook to find people hoping to sell some of their old items.
Facebook Marketplace is a tool the social media site has introduced in order to help connect users. You can access it on your mobile device by taping the shop icon at the bottom of your screen inside the Facebook app.
Someone with a Facebook account can post in the marketplace about items they are looking to sell, or looking to purchase. Other users in the area can see the post, and decide if they want to purchase the item being sold or not.
If an agreement is made for the price of the item, the buyer and seller can message each other to determine when and where they would like to make the exchange.
Law enforcement recommends that meeting place be in a public area, during the daylight hours. Many police stations have begun offering their lobby as a safe place to meet up for these types of transactions.
As with everything, there are some rules to how to conduct yourself in the Facebook Marketplace. You can read more about them by clicking here.
