Looking for a great pan to cook within the kitchen, sick of everything sticking to it. The Gotham steel pan promises to be a great oil and butter-free way to cook but does it work
Let’s Try It Before You Buy It!
We decided to test out the 12-inch hammered design pan because if this works, the other types of Gotham steel pans will work.
First up how does the panhandle an egg, we heated the pan up, cracked an egg, and let it cook, without any oil or butter. When it came time to flip it, it just needed a little work to release it from the pan but wasn’t any real trouble.
Overall, it worked great.
Next up pancakes, same as with the egg the pancakes didn’t give us any issues or problems when trying to release them from the pan to flip. So, it worked here
Then we tried cooking some burgers in the pan, and with the model we have it could get quite a few patties in the pan, and it cooked them nicely and evenly. And after we removed them it was easy to clean the pan since no hard scrubbing was necessary.
For our last test we decided to get a little crazy, we cooked some mac in cheese in the pan, then added some cheese crumb topping and finished it off in the oven under the broiler. And it worked great! Plus clean-up was fast. The only issue was draining the water out of the pan. The large shape and lack of an extra handle like on their other models made it a little tricky. Everything we threw at this pan seemed to work.
So, the results.
The positives:
- Easy to clean
- Flexible – can go in the oven if needed
- So far, the nonstick surface has held up
The negatives:
- The pan we tested can be a little too big to carry, it needs an extra handle for balance.
Overall, this pan worked great with everything we threw at it, while it might take a few months more to see how it holds up we still rate this as a “Buy it."
