GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Holiday travel season is upon us, and chances are you're going to be stuck in a car for hours, maybe on your way to grandmas, with your family in tow. You might need a coffee for the trip.
This week, I'm testing out a product that will hopefully keep you coffee, tea, hot chocolate or any beverage, hot for several hours, while out on the road.
The Sharper Image Heated Travel Coffee Mug costs about $13 on Amazon.
The stainless steel mug holds 14 ounces. How it works is similar to charging a phone in your car. The mug features a 12V DC Adapter that plugs into any auto utility jack. The mug base also fits into most standard cup holders (In case you were wondering).
The heated travel mug promises to keep your coffee, soup, tea (again, any hot beverage) hot for hours.
But, after being plugged in for quite some time -- it didn't seem to keep any of its products. The coffee inside was "ice cold" and after further investigation -- it looked as though the battery on the bottom that should have kept the coffee warm fell off. Chock it up to being poorly made or defective, the heated travel mug just didn't work out.
