Are cat nail caps the solution to your furniture woes?

If your cats are anything like mine, they like to scratch and paw at everything, including you.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Cats are cute and cuddly, but scratched-up furniture is not.

If your cats are anything like mine, they like to scratch and paw at everything, including you. With many opting these days not to get their cats declawed, they're forced to find a way to keep their cats from tearing up the house. One popular solution is a scratching board. My cat, Susie, loves that. But sometimes she'll sneak in a scratch or two on our couch.

This product may be the solution. Soft Claws Nail Caps are essentially caps that lock over your cat's claws. They range in sizes from small to large and come in different colors, including sparkle colors. Prices range from around $13 to $17, depending on size and color and are available at places like Amazon and Chewy.com.

According to the product description, Soft Claws will not interfere with the normal extension and retraction of your cat's nails. Your cat can still scratch with Soft Claws, allowing normal stretching and scratching behavior to continue.

Each package comes with:

  • 40 Clear Nail Caps CLS (cleat lock system)
  • 2 fresh tubes of adhesive
  • 6 applicator tips

Each application lasts four to six weeks, and each kit comes with a four- to six-month supply.

Watch the video above to see if the cat nail caps work and even more if my cat, Susie, enjoys wearing them.
