KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Amway is planning on adding 260 new jobs with the expansion of its facilities in Ada Township.
Alticor, the parent company of Amway, will be investing over $127 million into expanding the manufacturing, research and development capacity at two locations: The Spaulding Plaza facility and the Innovation & Science Pilot Plant Facility.
The company says that it plans to add 260 new jobs between the two expansions.
“We are pleased to partner with the MEDC as Amway brings 260 professional and hourly manufacturing jobs to Michigan,” said Amway Chief Operating Officer & Chief People Officer Michael Nelson.
The Spaulding Plaza facility will have 48,000 square feet of unused space renovated into a "state-of-the-art Nutrition Solid Dose Manufacturing center."
The Innovation & Science Pilot Plant Facility will get an 18,750 square-foot expansion to add:
- Nutrition laboratories
- Support offices
- Cool chambers
- Storage
- Pilot manufacturing equipment
Amway also plans to close an out-of-state facility to consolidate some operations in West Michigan.
“This significant industrial expansion adds to the positive momentum that the Township has experienced in the residential and retail sectors over the past few years,” added Ada Township Manager Julius Suchy. “We are excited for the positive impact this project will have on the entire Ada community.”
In 2021, Amway announced it was going to cut 15,000 jobs globally and 900 within the U.S., most of which from the West Michigan headquarters in Ada.
