ZEELAND, Mich. — After a handful of B2 Outlet Stores in Michigan closed their doors recently, a West Michigan distribution is also closing up shop.
13 ON YOUR SIDE obtained an undated letter sent to staff at the Zeeland Distribution Center.
In that letter, the Supply Chain Director said they are at the point where the company has to make substantial changes to their organization. That change means the distribution center is immediately in the process of closing.
"The B-2 owners and leadership team do not make this decision lightly as we know that the lives and the livelihood of our staff is not a small or insignificant matter," the letter reads.
Affected employees were able to pick up their personal items yesterday, and those impacted were encouraged to file for unemployment if applicable.
13 ON YOUR SIDE reached out to the business for an updated comment about the number of employees impacted but has not yet received a response.
B2 Outlet Stores in Muskegon, Alpine Avenue and Ludington home store have all closed. Others across Michigan also shuttered.
B2 Outlet Stores shared this statement on Monday about the closures:
"The challenges and complexities of navigating a sluggish retail economy have resulted in significantly declined sales. This has impacted nearly every retailer and B2 is not immune. We have pivoted with various creative ways to drive foot traffic, yet a turnaround has not occurred. Although closing stores is never an easy decision, B2 has reached that point where closing a small number of stores is imperative. These closures will allow B2 to focus its energies on remaining stores that can be profitable. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our valued customers who shopped at stores that may be closing. Thank you for helping us 'be a blessing' in the communities we serve. We hope to see you at one of our many other locations soon!"
