FOREST HILLS, Mich. — Three teens were injured after their 22-foot pontoon boat crashed into a concrete bridge pillar under the M-6 overpass on Thornapple River around 7 p.m. Friday.
There were eight teens aboard the boat, the Kent County Sheriff's Office said. They were from the Forest Hills and Cascade area and had been out all afternoon celebrating their high school graduation.
A fisherman witnessed the accident and called 911.
Cascade Fire responded to the scene and deployed their marine vessel to rescue the teens from the boat.
Three of the teens were transported for various injuries to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital.
The Kent County Sheriff's Office said alcohol is believed to be a factor, but the investigation is ongoing.
