DOWAGIAC, Mich. — We have an update on the story of the two dogs found dead in a casino parking lot.
They were left inside a car in the parking lot of the Four Winds Casino in Dowagiac.
A woman who found the dogs in distress tried to get help, but the animals still died.
"I saw that the truck was still there the windows were not down and when I looked in I found the dog had died," said Diane Campbell.
Diane Campbell says she was distraught after pulling into a Four Winds Casino parking lot to find one of the dogs panting in the front seat.
She says she went for help and thought the staff had it taken care of, but an hour or so after she went back out to her car she saw the dog had not been helped.
Campbell says Four Winds second in command of security was upset by how things were handled.
"He was livid. He said this should have never have happened on his property and that he would be investigating this, that it shouldn't have happened, that dogs should never die on his property," said Campbell.
Sherrill Langford has since been charged with misdemeanor and felony charges and is set to appear back in court on April 17th.
But for Campbell, she says this is going to take some time to get past.
"I'm such an animal lover, it breaks my heart to know that this happened," said Campbell.
Langford is currently out on bond. She is scheduled to be formally charged next Wednesday.
