Several Ottawa County road construction projects set to start early thanks to savings from less winter maintenance

The road commission said savings and getting an early start on some of the road projects will benefit motorists throughout Ottawa County.

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — The Ottawa County Road Commission has announced several additional road projects for this year’s upcoming road construction season. It’s all thanks to savings in winter maintenance project bid results.

West Michigan saw fewer winter weather events and less time spent removing snow across Ottawa County. As a result, projects are underway in Allendale, Robinson and Holland townships, some which had been planned for 2027 but now the road commission can now get an early start.

“Anytime we're able to leverage some savings and add to the work that we're able to do, that's great because there's certainly a need for additional road projects,” communications administrator Alex Doty said.

The road commission said savings and getting an early start on some of the road projects will benefit motorists throughout Ottawa County.

Road construction projects include:

  • Fillmore Street: 48th Ave. to 72nd Ave. in Allendale Twp, originally planned for 2027.
  • Complete resurfacing work on the Fillmore Street corridor between U.S. 31 and Cottonwood Dr. over the past 5 years.
  • 112th Avenue: Riley St. to Quincy St. in Holland Twp, originally planned for 2027.
