Where promgoers can find a gently-worn dress for free

Dresses can be expensive, but TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is hoping to remove the burden.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — Every year seniors get excited for one of the biggest nights in high school – prom night.

Prom season is just around the corner and an organization is giving away free dresses to make sure everyone's special night is memorable.

Dresses can be expensive, but TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is hoping to remove the burden with over 1,000 gently-used dresses for promgoers to choose from.

“We have plenty of dresses to go around so we are not limiting it to one, you can come in and take two or three,” said Claire Bouwens, a marketing specialist at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK.

Boxes of prom dresses are still coming in to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’S warehouse after receiving 10 times the number of dresses they’d hoped to receive.

“It's awesome to see that we're able to give back to the community in this way because we want to make girls feel just as special as we did during our big night,” Bouwens said. "We're hoping that girls can find their perfect dress and feel just absolutely beautiful and super confident when they go to prom.”

Earlier this month, Townsquare Media in Grand Rapids partnered with the giant moving company for a prom dress donation drive.

On Saturday, March 23, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK will open its doors at the Comstock Park location offering prom dresses for free for everyone.

“A lot of people are responding to this because I remember I had a single mom raising me and my brother, I did not get a dress but the tuxedo rental, that's expensive,” said Big Joe Pesh, a radio personality at Mix 95.7. "This is the moment for a girl and should be an awesome time where you have an awesome night and you're not worried about how are you going to make it happen.”

For now, the colorful dresses hang on the racks, waiting for their perfect match.

“I want them to be able to have the time of their life and not have to worry about things,” said Lisha B, a radio personality at Magic 104.9. "I also want the moms and dads to be able to watch their little girls have this moment because as a parent watching your kid find the perfect dress and get excited for it that, that means something.”

Dress sizes range from 2 to 14. Accessories and shoes are also available.

If you'd like to pick up a free dress, you can stop by the Comstock Park location at 284 Dodge Court, Suite 104 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m on Saturday, March 23.

Food will be provided along with an opportunity to try on the dresses. For more information, visit their social media page.
