MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — West Michiganders are kicking off summer tourism at Michigan’s Adventure with over a dozen school districts and families taking advantage of Opening Day.
“Everybody should come down and have some fun at Michigan’s Adventure, you will love it, I promise you will, “Lansing native Rachel Gaines said.
Michigan’s Adventure is now open for the 2024 season with more than 60 rides from roller coasters, water attractions and slides.
“I was scared on the first ride because this is actually my first time getting on a roller coasters,” Myles Hamelink said.
Students are celebrating the end of their school year with good food and scary rides, while some people hope to get on all of them. One of the park’s popular rides is the Thunderhawk. Riders experience weightlessness and rapid movements from side to side. People traveled as far as Detroit for opening day.
“We're from Detroit, we are here having fun and you have to get on the roller coaster,” Regina Scott said. "I didn’t want to get on there, but my son said mom are you scared, I couldn't say I was scared.”
Others have traveled from Lansing.
“We drove from Lansing, it took about an hour and 30 minutes to get here,” Gaines said.
For some riders, it's their first time visiting the park while others say they’ve visited the park many times.
“We've been riding roller coasters and it's been really fun,” Evan Chango said. "We've been going up and down and we ate some good food, too.”
The water park and amusement park will resume daily operations on June 8 and the best way to get a ticket is by visiting their website.
