GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Time is drawing near for holiday shoppers, buying the last of their Christmas gifts for Super Saturday.
“I had to get a couple things at Bath and Body Works, a couple things for my sister and one last outfit for Christmas Day that I needed to get and that was about it,” said Courtney Dolan.
The National Retail Federation says more than 140 million people were expected in stores across the country.
“What do you think you got for Christmas Roman,” said Aaron Arnold. I don’t know. Did you get a hover board? No.”
Ugg retail associates say slippers are on top of many people’s wish list this year.
“Definitely the top of the list on every kid’s, teenagers and college kids Christmas list,” said Shakira Smith. Especially tasman slippers, the ones I have right now, they are number one.”
Retailers are luring customers in with deals on items they’ve been waiting to get all year, with some Christmas lists longer than others.
“Two American girl dolls, a Nintendo switch and a hover board,” said one young shopper.
“Actually, the biggest thing on my Christmas wish list was the Bissell Crosswave, the vacuum that’s a mop and vacuum at the same time,” said Hannah Joerin.
Amid all of the shopping chaos, one family says they took time to enjoy each other’s company.
“We’ve been kind of hanging out today, they’ve been playing in stores hiding from me, they have such great imaginations, they’re having a lot of fun which is making me have a lot of fun,” said Dolan.
The mall closes today at 9pm and will be open tomorrow for Christmas Eve, and closed on Christmas Day.
