MARTIN, Mich. — It's the time of year for sunflowers to start blooming. The popular and brightly colored flowers are already showing their colors across West Michigan at several farms in the area, including one that’s tucked away in a small town. It’s called B5 Ranch and it's located at 576, 116th Avenue in Martin.
"When people come here and they walk back out of this field with the biggest smiles, and especially kids, and they're super happy, it's so cool,” Amy Bender said.
For just one dollar per stem, you can collect as many flowers as you'd like, and take photos with your family. B5 has hosted weddings in their flower garden, including opportunities for photographers to take photos for a minimal fee.
Flower keep Amy Bend said she thanks the cooperating weather for allowing her sunflower field to stay healthy as long as it has.
Although bloom season has started for B5, down the road at Gorby Sunflowers the owners said they've been struggling as 90% of their sunflower field was eaten by deer. Despite the unexpected, the owners said they're doing everything they can to provide families with the sunflowers they expect.
B5 expects to have their sunflowers until mid-September. To arrange a photoshoot, or for more information about their sunflower field, you can visit their Facebook page by clicking here.
