1 dead after domestic situation, shooting in Barry County

The Barry County Sheriff's Office has not released the identity of the victim.

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — Monday evening, deputies with the Barry County Sheriff's Office were involved in what they said was an "officer-involved shooting" that left one person dead.

The incident took place in the 7000 Block of Kingsbury Road in Hope Township around 7:30 p.m.

Deputies initially responded to a call about a domestic situation involving a firearm. The Barry County Sheriff's Office has not released the identity of the victim.

Officials said there is not an ongoing threat to the public. Michigan State Police are investigating the shooting.

The deputies involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
