GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — After months of investigative work, the Grand Rapids Police Department said they have seized more than $1 million in cash from a drug trade operation in the city.
GRPD said they executed a search warrant at a home in the city on Sept. 3 and seized nearly $1.2 million, a kilogram of cocaine, multiple vehicles and an illegal gun. A man was also arrested at the home.
“The GRPD Vice Unit has been working diligently on this investigation for several months,” said Chief Eric Winstrom. “This seizure represents a significant disruption to the drug trade in the Grand Rapids metro area, to the benefit and safety of everyone in our community. It is the largest amount of cash recovered in recent memory—and perhaps in history—by GRPD. This is the direct result of the excellent work of our Vice Unit detectives and our law enforcement partners.”
The money and vehicles will go through a civil asset forfeiture process.
