18 year old now charged with murder in 'road rage' beating

An 18-year-old man now faces a murder charge in the alleged road rage death of William "Andy" McFarlan.

An 18-year-old man now faces a murder charge in the alleged road rage death of William "Andy" McFarlan.

Christian Hillman is charged with second-degree murder, Kent County Prosecutor William Forsyth said. He had been charged with assault, and officials expected to upgrade the charge if 64-year-old McFarlan succumbed to his injuries.

He died Oct. 31.

McFarlan was in the area of Whitneyville Avenue and 60th Street when he allegedly was beaten by Hillman in late September. A witness claimed they were riding and ATV and became separated from Hillman. When they found each other again, the witness stated he saw Hillman kicking a man, who was unconscious on the ground.

Although investigators describe the incident as road rage related, there is no indication as to how it started. Hillman says McFarlan grabbed his neck.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the McFarlan family.
