OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Last week, two grocery shoppers had their purses stolen at two different stores in Ottawa County.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) says that the two incidents, which investigators believe are related, happened within an hour of one another on Friday, Nov. 3.
The first theft happened in Holland Township at about 7:18 p.m. and the second occurred at 8:12 p.m. in Georgetown Township.
Both shoppers who had their purses stolen were female and were putting their groceries in their car when the suspect grabbed the purse and ran to a getaway car, police say.
OCSO says that the male suspect got into an older silver sedan, which was occupied by other males wearing masks.
The Sheriff's Office is warning the public to keep your purse or other valuables on your person when putting your groceries in your car or returning your cart.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Ottawa County Central Dispatch at 1-800-249-0911 or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT(745368).
