GREENVILLE, Mich. — The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office posted to Facebook saying that on Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m. they arrested a Grand Rapids area man in Greenville.
22-year-old Luke Elijah Hoekstra was arrested on charges of "accosting a child for immoral purposes."
The sheriff's office said that Hoekstra's arrest was a result of ongoing operations involving several agencies to help combat what they described as a human trafficking "epidemic" in America.
MCSO said Hoekstra believed he was meeting two underaged girls to have sexual intercourse with them.
"The operations are conducted in such a manner so to identify individuals engaging in this type of criminal behavior, arrest them, and build a solid case to facilitate a successful prosecution. The laws that govern this type of operation are strictly adhered to by the officers," read the Facebook post.
Hoekstra has been arraigned. In addition to the charge of accosting, he was also charged with using a computer to commit a crime.
