MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich. — The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office is reporting that they have eight people in custody after executing a search warrant on a Millbrook Township home in the early morning hours on Thursday.
The sheriff's office obtained the search warrant in relation to a reported felonious assault with a handgun. Authorities realized the suspect in the assault was a wanted felon that was absconding from parole.
They said the suspect also had multiple warrants for his arrest and that there were multiple wanted subjects staying at the property.
While executing the search warrant, the Mecosta Co. Sheriff's Office was assisted by The Newaygo County Sheriff's Office – Emergency Response Team, Michigan Department of Corrections – Fugitive Recovery Unit, as well as patrol officers from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s OfficeRoad Patrol and Corrections, Michigan State Police – K9 unit, Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Law Enforcement Division, and the Mecosta County Probation / Parole Office, and Meceola Central Dispatch
The Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office – Emergency Response Team secured the property, which authorities said had multiple structures, campers and vehicles. A total of six people were arrested at the scene.
After securing the scene, law enforcement searched for evidence and found methamphetamine, live and spent ammunition as well as stolen property.
Police said they received information after executing the search warrant that led them to arrest two additional people at a separate property.
All eight people who were arrested were taken to the Mecosta County Jail.
