GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police detectives are hoping you recognize a person caught on a surveillance camera around the time of an October 2022 homicide.
Santino Ysasi, 46, was killed and found dead next to an abandoned building behind a church on Bridge Street.
The killing likely happened around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, and someone discovered his body around 9:45 a.m. The Kent County Medical Examiner ruled the death of Santino "Taco" Ysasi a homicide, but did not share how he died.
The police department's West Side Neighborhood Service Area captain Chad McKersie called the killing brutal, and despite detectives working more than 1,00 hours in the case, they've exhausted all leads.
That's why they're releasing some surveillance video of a person walking around the scene of the crime who they believe may have key information related to the case.
Detectives acknowledge the video footage isn't crystal clear, but they do believe there are some details in the video that could spark a thought.
"Pay special attention to the way the individual is dressed, the style and shape of the backpack he is wearing, and the manner this person walks," GRPD Captain Chad Mckersie said. “Silent Observer is offering cash rewards of up to $3,200 for tips that lead to an arrest in this case.”
Authorities have gone through hundreds of surveillance videos and hope you recognize the person.
Anyone with information is asked to contact GRPD detectives at (616) 456-3380 or tips can be sent anonymously through Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345/www.silentobserver.org.
