Kent County Sheriff's Office: 14 vehicles broken into near 68th Street & Clyde Park neighborhoods

The sheriff's office said one vehicle was also stolen Tuesday.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office is sharing a warning with Byron Township neighborhoods to remove valuables from vehicles after a rash of car break-ins Tuesday. 

A total of 14 cars were broken into, and authorities also said one vehicle was stolen. 

This all happened in the 68th Street and Clyde Park neighborhoods. 

In many of the break-ins, the perpetrator smashed out windows while the suspects rummaged through the vehicles. 

Investigators are working to track down those responsible.

Here are some general tips to secure your vehicle and belongings:

  • Lock your vehicles every time you leave them
  • Remove firearms, valuables and keys every time
  • Create habits that help you remember these tips
  • Report suspicious activity as it occurs 
  • Remind your friends/family/neighbors/coworkers of these tips
