Gresham and Marshall were taken to the hospital, where they died. An autopsy report from the Lucas County Coroner's Office on Monday found their causes of death to be blunt force injuries.

A third occupant of the victim's vehicle was treated and released.

Three felonious assault warrants were initially issued for Pitts. Two warrants were later issued to Pitts for Gresham and Marshall's deaths. Pitts was arrested in Michigan was extradited to Toledo.

On Wednesday, Pitts made an initial appearance in Toledo Municipal Court. A judge set Pitts' bond at $1 million for each murder charge and $100,000 for each felonious assault charge, for a total bond of $2.1 million.

According to Lt. Paul Davis of the Toledo Police Department, an investigation revealed that Pitts was in a relationship with Gresham and an argument between the two is what caused the crash.

"Two females that were involved in this were in a dating relationship," he said. "There was some type of argument that ensued that preceded the crash, and whatever that was led to [the crash]."
