'Dangerous fugitive' connected to double murder in Grand Rapids sought in Atlanta

Derrell Demon Brown should be considered armed and dangerous

ATLANTA — Grand Rapids police are asking for help in Atlanta to locate a “dangerous fugitive” who has been named a person of interest in a double homicide. 

Detectives said they have received credible information that the man, Darrell Demon Brown, could have traveled to Atlanta. 

Brown, 45, is considered a person of interest in the murder of two women, 47-year-old Cherletta Baber-Bay and 25-year-old Keyona Griffin. Grand Rapids Police said officers were called to a home for an unknown medical call and found the two women inside. Brown lived at the same home where the two women were found shot to death, and investigators said Brown and Baber-Bey were in a relationship prior to her murder.

Brown has not been officially charged in the women’s deaths, but investigators said he has not been seen or heard from since the bodies were discovered.

Brown is described as African-American, 5’8” and about 180 pounds. He has used a number of aliases in his past, including:

  • Darryl Robinson
  • Carter Brown
  • Derrick Brown
  • Michael Richardson
  • Marcus Wright
  • “Jay

Anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is asking to call 911 or visit silentobserver.org to submit a tip to police.
