KENT COUNTY, Mich. — On Valentine's Day, a Kent County Sheriff's Deputy spotted a stolen vehicle in the Gaines Township Meijer parking lot.

The sheriff's office said when the Detroit man returned to his car, deputies detained him and learned he was linked to multiple thefts from stores in Lansing and Grand Rapids Township.

The 26-year-old now faces possessing a stolen vehicle charge. Deputies are working to submit more charges related to the thefts that total $550.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office continues to look into stolen car complaints, and deputies believe these stolen vehicles are often used in additional crimes across West Michigan.
