ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — The driver of an SUV that hit a tractor pulling a hay wagon filled with people in Allegan County Saturday was arraigned Tuesday morning.
Angelina Hamberg, 44, is facing one count of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury.
On Saturday, Hamberg was driving a Honda Pilot SUV when she crashed into the trailer of a tractor pulling a hay ride at the intersection of M-40 and 110th Ave. in Trowbridge Township.
Three people in the trailer were injured and two people in the SUV were injured, according to the Allegan County Sheriff's Office. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
A field sobriety test given to Hamburg after the crash led Allegan County Sheriff deputies to believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. She was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence causing injury.
Authorities said that Hamberg had a blood alcohol level of 0.129, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 in Michigan.
"The trailer was turned on its side, the tractors in an awkward angle," said Allegan County Sheriff Captain John Paul Damveld. "Yes, there was debris in the roadway."
Allegan County Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to the scene around 7:45 p.m. Saturday night.
"The tractor itself had lights on it," said Cpt. Damveld. "There were no lights on the hay trailer, but there was a large, slow-moving reflective orange triangle on the back of it."
Hamberg was given a $5,000 cash or surety bond. There is a probable cause conference set for Oct. 24 and a preliminary hearing on Oct. 29.
