SURVEILANCE FOOTAGE | Police searching for woman who scammed elderly woman out of $16,000

The victim, an elderly Van Buren County woman, was tricked into believing she needed to post a $16,000 bond for her son.

BYRON CENTER, Mich. — The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office has released surveillance footage from a larceny/scam incident that occurred back in May of 2024.

The victim, an elderly Van Buren County woman, was tricked into believing she needed to post a $16,000 bond for her son.

The woman then met with the suspect at the U-Haul location in Byron Center to deliver the cash.

Police are looking for the suspect who can be seen in surveillance obtained from the U-Haul. The suspect is a woman, she can be seen wearing a white shirt and black pants, driving a white sedan.
