FOREST HILLS, Mich. — Families of students attending Forest Hills Public Schools received a letter Wednesday letting them know that the school had hired an external security company to conduct building searches. The security company will be looking for "non-district-issued technology devices," the letter said.
The searches were prompted after the district learned that law enforcement had arrested someone who worked for the district as a cleaner.
The person was immediately placed on administrative leave pending investigation.
The district stressed that the safety and well being of its students was of the highest priority. They said that to their understanding no Forest Hills students were affected.
"The district is working alongside law enforcement and will continue to do so to assist with bringing resolution and closure to this situation," read the letter. "We understand the concerns that can arise when an incident involves law enforcement and want to reassure our school community of our unwavering commitment to student safety."
