GRPD: 12-year-old, 17-year-old injured in shooting on city's southeast side

The shooting happened near the corner of Kalamazoo Avenue and Johnston Street.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a shooting at a home in southeast Grand Rapids. 

Police say it happened near the corner of Kalamazoo Avenue and Johnston Street around 4 p.m. Thursday. There are two victims suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Sgt. John Wittkowksi with GRPD said Friday the victims are a 12-year-old girl and a 17-year-old. The girl was transported to the hospital following the shooting. 

GRPD used a K9 track to search for the suspect.
