OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Two people were taken into custody this month in connection to an early April stabbing in Holland Township.
The stabbing happened around 2:15 a.m. in the 90 block of Douglas Avenue on April 1. Holland police officers responded to the scene after the stabbing was reported. A 27-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds was located at the scene.
Police say the man sustained two stab wounds to the back and one to the leg. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and later released. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Two suspects were believed to have been involved in the stabbing.
On April 3, the first suspect was taken into custody. Identified as 21-year-old Eliud "Rey" Vazquez, he was charged with assault with intent to commit great bodily harm - less than murder and habitual offender - second offense notice.
Vazquez was arraigned on April 5 and was given a $50,000 cash/surety bond. He is lodged at the Ottawa County Jail.
On April 27, the second suspect, a 42-year-old man, was taken into custody. He has been lodged at the Ottawa County Jail and will not be identified pending arraignment.
