GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police are asking the parents of five young people who likely witnessed the shooting death of a 15-year-old to come forward.
Lakyijah Williams, 15, was shot and killed on May 18 on Ottawa Avenue near Studio Park, hanging out with her friends.
Officials said they don't know what led up to the shooting or if Lakyijah was even the target. But they do know multiple shots were fired and she was shot from a distance.
She was riding her scooter when she was shot, police said.
On Monday, Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom shared a six-second surveillance video of what detectives believe are five young people.
The video was taken moments after the shooting, and Winstrom said they were within feet of the killing.

"Today I'm asking the whole city to stand up, do the right thing and help us," Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom said.
The surveillance video appears to show what police believe are two boys and three girls.
Chief Winstrom is imploring their parents to come forward and bring the teens into the police department to share what they know.
"She was a daughter, she was a sister....She has a lot of people who love her. She deserves justice," Winstrom said. "I ask the family members of these young individuals to put yourself in the position of Lakyijah's mom."
