LUDINGTON, Mich. — A fight between two teenagers in Ludington sent one boy to the hospital and the other to juvenile detention.
The Ludington Police Department said just after 7:30 p.m. Friday, officers got word of a stabbing at Legacy Plaza.
When they showed up, that's where they found a 16-year-old boy with a stab wound in his lower back.
Medical personnel rushed him to a nearby hospital in Ludington, and he was then later transferred to a Grand Rapids area hospital for treatment. Authorities said he was seriously wounded but is stable.
After authorities interviewed the victim and witnesses, they said a fight happened between the two teens in the alley behind the 100 block of West Ludington Avenue.
During the fight, a 17-year-old suspect is accused of pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim in the lower back. The two were apparently acquaintances.
The older teenager then took off and ran to Legacy Plaza, where a witness called 911, authorities said.
Law enforcement found the 17-year-old Ludington boy at a home in town, arrested him, and took him to a juvenile detention center.
He now awaits arraignment.
