GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man has been charged with open murder in the killing of 53-year-old Yushonda Noble, whose death was originally suspected to be an overdose.

Around 3 a.m. on Dec. 27, Grand Rapids police officers said they responded to the 1000 block of College Avenue NE for an initial report of a medical call for someone with a head injury.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male victim who was stabbed, and they took 44-year-old Keith Wilkerson into custody on charges of assault with intent to murder.

While the officers were on the scene, they also found two victims of a suspected overdose—Yoshonda Noble and a man. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment, and Noble died at the scene, officers said.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, after the Kent County Medical Examiner completed Noble's autopsy, her death was ruled a homicide.

Now, in addition to the charges Wilkerson faces related to the stabbing, he's charged with open murder in Noble's death.

The department said as of the last report, both the victim of the stabbing and the man who suffered a suspected overdose are in stable condition.
