Man gets prison for child porn that topped 15,800 images and videos

A search of Eric Dykman’s home in Muskegon turned up 15,588 images and 226 videos of child pornography, many showing sexual assaults of children who appeared to be less than 8 years old.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Muskegon County man who amassed nearly 15,600 images and 226 videos of child pornography, some showing kids being raped, was sentenced Thursday to five years in federal prison.

Pornography found at the home of 33-year-old Eric Lee Dykman included files named “sucky,’’ “sadie’’ and “daddy.’’

“The majority of the children depicted in those files are pre-pubescent children,’’ Assistant U.S. Attorney Davin M. Reust wrote in a sentencing memorandum.

Downloaded pornographic images involved children “who appeared to be less than eight years old being orally, vaginally and anally penetrated by adults,’’ court records show.

The offenses occurred between December of 2014 and September of 2015, according to a federal indictment. Dykman was snared as part of a sweeping federal investigation called Operation Pacifier.

Dykman, a fulltime factory worker, appeared for sentencing Thursday in a Grand Rapids federal courtroom. In addition to prison, U.S. District Court Judge Janet T. Neff ordered Dykman to spend five years on supervised release, pay $6,000 in restitution and a $5,100 special assessment.

Dykman was indicted in October. A search of his electronic devices turned up 15,588 images and 226 videos of child pornography, federal court records show.

He pleaded guilty in February to receipt of child pornography, which is punishable by a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in prison. It also requires sex offender registration. In exchange for his plea, a second child pornography charge was dismissed.

As part of Operation Pacifier, the FBI installed a device called the Network Investigative Technique on Dykman’s computer when he logged into the Onion Router – a dark web service, federal court records show.
