EDMORE, Mich. — An Edmore man is in the Montcalm County jail after police say he resisted and assaulted a deputy.

It happened in Edmore on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at approximately 4 p.m. The deputy was attempting to arrest the suspect on a four-count warrant.

Sheriff's investigators say the man was able to escape, but was arrested about one and a half hours later. The deputy is a sergeant and has been with the sheriff’s office for nine years.

The sergeant was taken to Kelsey Hospital by Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services for treatment and was released. The suspect did sustain minor injuries but did not require treatment.

Police are asking for new charges from the prosecutor's office.

They expect to release more information later today.
